Ingredients:
2 cups warm water (95 – 110 °F)
1 pkg active dry yeast
2 tbsp sugar
2 tsp salt
5 ½ cups bread flour (approximately)
1 large egg white beaten
Sesame seeds
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine water, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir until dissolved. Mix in flour, a little at a time, until a soft dough is formed. Turn dough onto a floured board and knead it for about 8 minutes. Put dough in a greased bowl and flip the dough over so that all of the dough is lightly greased. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and allow to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour. Punch dough down. Kneed for a quick 2 minutes. Divide dough into 2 equal halves. Shape each into a long loaf. Place loaves onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Make diagonal slits, ¾ inch deep, into the top of each loaf. Cover loaves with wrap and allow to rise for 45 minutes. Heat oven to 400°F. Brush loaves with the beaten egg white and sprinkle with the sesame seeds. Bake at 400°F for 5 minutes. Remove loaves from oven and spray with cold water. Turn oven down to 350°F and bake for another 25 minutes or until done.
