2 cups of white sugar, 1 block of butter, 1 cup buttermilk, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract. Mix and cook over a medium heat. Keep stirring and cooking until the mixture loses its gloss or a drop of the mixture forms a small ball in cold water. Add 1/2 cup of pecans, let cool and enjoy! Oh by the way don't worry if the first batch doesn't come out right. The second batch will cuz you have gotten the knack!
