Goat Cheese & Apple on French Bread

Ingredients:

1 baguette / french bread

24 oz. goat cheese (more or less to taste)

3 tart apples

4 tablespoons heavy cream

pepper

Herbes de Provence (can find even at Walmart), it is somewhat like Italian seasoning, but it does have a more “floral" taste.

Note: Herbes de Provence comes from Provence, a region in France, while Italian seasoning, despite the name, is an American creation.        Also, while herbes de Provence do use most of the ingredients found in Italian spice mixes (with the exception of basil), it also includes lavender flowers and has a strong floral taste.

Instructions:

Cut the baguette in half lengthwise. Drizzle the cream onto both halves of the bread. Peel, core and thinly slice the apple. Spread the apple slices on the bread. Spread the goat cheese over the apple slices. (Depending on the age of the goat cheese, you may have better luck putting the cheese on in slices.) Sprinkle with pepper and Herbes de Provence. Bake in oven at 350F for about 10 minutes, then broil until cheese browns slightly. Cut each half into about 12 pieces. (These can be assembled individually on precut bread slices if you prefer.)
